Rosh Hashana Snack Board

Rosh Hashana Snack Board

The high holidays have always been something to look forward to. I love the family gatherings and getting to eat all my favourite Jewish foods. My Bubbie used to only make certain dishes twice a year and Rosh Hashana was one of them, yay! The past few Rosh Hashanas have been a little harder as my Zeidy passed away right before the high holidays 2 years ago so family gatherings, on my Mom’s side, are not quite the same. This year, I will be hosting, which is exciting!

I created this snack board because I thought it would be a great appetizer to have out as guests arrive. Alternatively, you can use it as your table centerpiece and guests can nosh all night long. It is very easy to assemble, and you can use mine as a guide.

Pomegranate, apples and honey (of course!), dried figs, nuts and fresh fruits all assembled on a circular board with jam and crackers as well. I tried to use the circle shape as much as possible to signify the circularity of the calendar.

This snacking board has been quite popular and will surely have your guests gossiping about how beautiful it looks!

Tips for Creating a Gorgeous Snack Board

  1. Decide on a theme, for example, colour scheme or holiday or type of board

  2. Gather a variety of different items to go on the board. Fruits, vegetables, pickled items, cheese and/or meats (if using), dried fruits, nuts, crackers and spreads.

  3. Place the spreads into small bowls and put throughout the board.

  4. Start building your board by placing piles of items around the bowls.

  5. Try and spread out your items to make it visually appealing, for example, do not place 2 red items beside each other or 2 similar items beside each other.

  6. Have fun with it! There are no rules.
